New Beginnings

I wanted to write this on the Spring Equinox, but this year it’s taken a while for spring to really spring. For a start, we’ve had far too many wet, chilly, gray days (reminds me of home!). Also, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with the many things going on in my life. However, this week, back in NYC taking my puppy for her first walk in Central Park, it finally felt like spring. Having a little fur ball of boundless enthusiasm and curiosity, chasing anything and everything, no doubt helped! Now, everywhere I look, flowers are fluttering, trees are covered in the vibrant colors of blooms and birds, and butterflies are prancing all over the place.

Spring seems to breathe new life into us, cleansing our minds and our hearts. My urge to make plans and start new projects has taken the shape of inviting a four-month-old puppy into my home and getting ambitious with some window boxes. I’ve planted wildflowers and vegetables. Fingers crossed, I’ll be enjoying tulips, tomatoes, carrots, and more. Soon I’ll be snipping fresh parsley into my pasta, crushing fresh mint into my mojitos, and layering fresh basil onto my bruschetta.

The sounds, sights, and smells of the outdoors have me seeking out stone terraces, balconies, rooftops, and luscious parks so I can make the most of the magical new beginnings unfolding around me. It’s a perfect reminder of how beautiful change can be. The sense of renewal spring brings imbibes us with hope and inspiration. We only need to slow down our busy lives to notice and enjoy the changes all around us. Now’s the time to dine al fresco, to take that cocktail on the patio, and drink in the sunshine. Care to join me? I couldn’t resist adding a few floral dresses to my closet, complete with delicate lace and bows begging to be undone ;)

Surrounded by all this promise of new beginnings, it’s a bit difficult to feel too despondent about the loss of my Twitter account. Instead, I’ll take a deep breath, smile, start afresh, and think about all the new connections I’m going to forge over the coming months. Check out my new Twitter at @MirandaCamNYC1. Here I am, ready to embrace it all!
