Happy New Year
I love fresh starts! There’s just something about a new year that screams hope and possibility. It always feels great to start with a clean slate. 2020 was undoubtedly tough. At the same time, it’s a testament to the human spirit how deftly we adapted while the world, as we previously knew it, was turned completely upside down. The “new normal” seemed to change every few days but we got through it with patience and compassion.
After taking a very long hiatus during the quarantine (and beyond) last year, I opened my mind to the idea of dating again toward the end of the year. I had my first date (with all safety precautions in place) and what a revelation it was! I was not prepared for just how much I loved being able to engage face-to-face again. I hadn’t realized just how much I had missed that intimacy until I began experiencing it again.
I’m sure you know the feeling. We’ve all missed things in that way. One thing I’m really looking forward to in 2021 is increasing those normal human interactions. Whether it’s greeting someone with a kiss, running into friends in the park, spontaneously popping into a restaurant for lunch, or making new friends, I’m giddy for the restoration of a free, unfettered life!
I am excited to announce that I am resuming travel dates. I hadn’t traveled at all since March 2020 but at the end of last year I was tempted into escaping Manhattan. The whole experience re-ignited certain pre-lockdown memories and soon I was radiating that special glow that comes with traveling for an illicit rendezvous.
Many aspects of life have changed. Romance and connection have taken on new meaning. What hasn’t changed is the rush when you meet someone you know is a kindred spirit. I wholeheartedly believe that intimacy, in all ways, is a tonic with a magical, restorative power. And who here couldn’t use a long draught of relaxation, decadence and frolics?
